Maui Fire Relief Effort and Resources
Aloha all:
Mahalo to all of you who have reached out with concerns and prayers for West Maui today. Here’s a snapshot update:
As we all know, there were destructive wild fires in West Maui this week, made even more horrible by hurricane force winds. So far what we do know is downtown Lahaina extremely damaged, cell and land line communications out for days/weeks ahead, casual visitors are urged not to come to Maui due to all the damage, folks are homeless/jobless, tourists are stuck trying to get off island.
Many people have lost homes, businesses, and even life. The glimmer of hope is that the fire fighters are working around the clock and much of the fires are contained. Once the immediate threat of wildfires is over, the long haul of assessing damage, deciding how best to repair/move forward, get funding and plans in place, and then begin to rebuild the community will be the first order of business.
We are working as an organization to assess the damage and the best way we can help support our local community. Until then, please find some donation links below. We hope and pray that we will all work together to ‘heal West Maui’ in the best ways possible.
TO HEAR WHAT IS NOW and WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN FOR THE FUTURE.
